Silvia's first time out!

We packed up the kids and Katie and headed to the river this weekend.....Never having taken a camper (now named Silvia) before we didn't know our final destination until we got there. It was late when we made it to the river and we ended up at Diamondhead "resort" and paid for an rv slot... We ended up next to 15 tents in the slot next to us... needless to say we weren't happy. The people were loud and obnoxious and they were smoking so much pot that they didn't seem to care that their kids were out of control. We packed up the next morning and headed to the office and I went in and asked the owner for a refund for our second nights stay. He argued with me and told me no where would I find what I was looking for.... that any campground in the US would be like that on a Friday night... I suppose he was wrong because a few miles down the road we found a little slice of heaven.

Peace and quiet!

Birds singing.... animals rustling in the woods, you could even hear the river from our spot.

Conversations to be had with my family. Great steaks on the grill last night...Dirty rice on the side that would make a cajun cry (I know, I married one) Swimming, Lightening bug lanterns, sunburns, laughter, fishing, teamwork to make it all happen.

2 days of floating down the river on our toys, Donnie drove to Stunkard to fish and pick us up an hour or so downriver.... then it's time to eat and nap hard for a few hours and then up again and ready to do it all again.

They ate $200 of food...(No junk, all organic stuff) I came home with 2 half bottles of salad dressing and a loaf of bread. I have hours of laundry to do, and the camper will need an evening of cleaning.... It cost $300 in gas, fees, and what have you's, plus the groceries... but it was all worth it. The kitchen can be painted another month. The kids won't be kids forever...
