Chautauqua Blues Fest

When we first pulled up to the Blues Fest the kids were unimpressed. We had driven an hour up into Kansas and we got to Gregs place.... mind you this is a full day before the festivities were to begin.... We pulled up into a huge cow pasture lined with bright blue port a potty's all around the edge....
there was a part of a stage partially up and that was it....we get out of the truck, it is blazing hot, and the ticks were all over us.

After we set up camp they started to explore, they found a creek with a small waterfall to swim in and that was pretty much all they needed to escape the heat. Back at camp they discovered the huge field meant they could drive the truck and Donnie let Kenyon drive on the gravel road on Gregs land to go haul water and Dillon sat in his lap and steered.

Thad brought a friend who was alot of fun, he brought his guitar and they all sat around and played instruments...our friends got a kick out of the kids band we had going and our pretty quickly found other performers kids to run and roadie with. (our kids and the Watermelon Slim kids got pretty tight.... they were all very cool people and kinds showed ours "how to live on the road"..... Once they were in a pack it was easy to travel the full festival without parents following them around and they enjoyed a freedom they have never had before.

Kenyon took some of the pictures down at the creek and was going for this Bob Childers shot with Dillon and she got kinda close..... not bad.
Of course since water was involved there was the ritualistic "depantsing" of Dillon... they always make him run for his pants... and he really doesn't care... I wish I could put the picture up of him wearing a rock out of the water running for his pants that Kenyon got, but since anyone can find this I won't. I can tell you that it is PRICELESS.
